Event description

THE CRIME IS MINE

France, 2023, 102 min, MA

In 1930s Paris, Madeleine, a pretty, young, penniless and talentless actress, is accused of murdering a famous producer. Helped by her best friend Pauline, a young unemployed lawyer, she is acquitted on the grounds of self-defence. A new life of fame and success begins until the truth comes out. François Ozon (Summer of 85, Peter von Kant) returns with a wild comedy led by two rising stars of French cinema: Nadia Tereszkiewicz (who won the César for Best Newcomer for Les Amandiers) and Rebecca Marder, supported by an A-list cast of French superstars. Already praised as one of Ozon’s best films, The Crime Is Mine is a mischievous drama and detective comedy set in the 1930s, where two friends, Madeleine and Pauline take advantage of the gullibility and idiocy of all the men they meet. The Crime Is Mine is ‘ultimately about the triumph of sorority,’ according to Ozon, who was inspired by American screwball comedies from the 1930s.
