Targeted Case Management Training
Training Description
This state approved training fulfills the required 12 hour Core Competency Curriculum for Behavioral Health Targeted Case Managers in Kentucky. It also includes specialty content focused on adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
At New Vista, participants learn from experienced professionals while exploring three major areas of Targeted Case Management – Core, SMI and SUD. The curriculum covers essential topics such as ethics and professional boundaries, assessment and service planning, advocacy, documentation and compliance, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care.

Session Breakdown
- All day
Targeted Cse Mangement: Core (12 Hours) - Monday and Tuesday
The Core TCM training provides the foundational knowledge and skills required for Behavioral Health Targeted Case Managers in Kentucky. Topics include ethics and professional boundaries, assessment and service planning, advocacy, care coordination, documentation and compliance, cultural competency, trauma-informed care, and Medicaid requirements. Completion of the Core curriculum is required before pursuing specialty certifications.

Targeted Cse Mangement: SMI (6 Hours) - Wednesday
The SMI specialty training focuses on serving adults with serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorders. Participants learn about symptom management, recovery-oriented practices, community supports, crisis intervention, treatment coordination, and strategies for promoting independence and community integration

Targeted Cse Mangement: SUD (6 Hours) - Thursday
The SUD specialty training prepares case managers to support individuals experiencing substance use disorders. Training covers the disease model of addiction, stages of change, recovery supports, treatment options, relapse prevention, harm reduction principles, and coordination of care across behavioral health and community service systems.
