    Event description

    ** Bookings extended until 4pm, Tuesday 19 September **

As the most prolific grape variety in Australia, Syrah - or more popularly known as Shiraz - accounts for more than a quarter of total wine grape production.  The two names of the same grape tend to clue people in on its style - Shiraz is recognised as the big and bold-flavoured nectar from the Barossa Valley; and Syrah, the cool climate, 'French' leaning wine that is more floral and peppery.

Take a deep dive into Tasmanian Syrah with local winemaker Ricky Evans of Two Tonne Tasmania, and Sommeliers Australia's Committee members David Newman (Samuel Smith and Son Negociants) and Michael Fisher (The Tasman), and taste it alongside iconic examples from the Mainland and Rhone Valley.
