Tasmania - Next steps: regulation for in-home and accommodation supports

Event description

Dear In-Home and Housing Support providers,

Following the 2023 release of the Own Motion Inquiry into Aspects of Supported Accommodation, the NDIS Commission will be undertaking consultation in August and September 2024 in relation to three issues:

- Review of the NDIS Practice Standards
- Development of NDIS Practice Standards for in-home supports delivered in a group arrangement (IHGSA)
- The separation of supported independent living (SIL) and specialist disability accommodation (SDA).

The NDIS Commission has undertaken initial consultation with people with disability and will continue to engage over the next two months.

We would like to invite providers who deliver in-home supports in a group arrangement to talk with us in August, September and October 2024.

In addition to the review of the NDIS Practice Standards and the separation of SIL and SDA, we are consulting on the development of Practice Standards for living arrangements where shared NDIS supports are provided to three or more people with disability in a single dwelling.

Services and supports that are not included in the definition, ‘shared NDIS supports are provided to three or more people with disability in a single dwelling,’ include:

- Disability Support for Older Australians
- Short and medium term accommodation
- Respite
- Residential aged care.

The NDIS Commission is inviting providers in your state to attend an in-person consultation session, Next steps: regulation for in-home and accommodation supports. Face to face capacity is limited, so we ask for no more than 2 attendees from a single provider. We will also be holding webinars to seek input so there will be multiple opportunities to contribute to the conversation.

These face-to-face opportunities will include a short introductory session from the NDIS Commission, followed by workshop activities. Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided. Please advise of any dietary requirements in your RSVP

If you have any questions, please contact us at SILstandards@ndiscommission.gov.au.
