Thu, Aug 21, 6pm - 8pm EDT

Event description

Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian food made by fermenting soybeans with a fungus (Rhizopus oligosporus). This food is surprisingly easy to grow at home in less than 48 hours! During this workshop you will learn how to make tempeh and go home with freshly prepared tempeh, plus starter culture to make your own tempeh at home.

Through fermentation, the fungus increases availability of nutrients and improves digestibility. Tempeh can also be made using a variety of legumes, nuts and seeds instead of soybeans. Tempeh is nutrient-dense with high amounts of protein and various vitamins and minerals. This makes it an increasingly popular meat substitute and less processed compared to other soy products. Gluten free friendly!
