The Birthday Trip: Bespoke Screening at Reservoir Cinema - 2/8

On August 2nd, Badlands presents a special, bespoke screenings of critically-acclaimed non-rom-com The Birthday Trip at one of Sydney's least-known picture spaces, the Reservoir Cinema in Surry Hills. Hailed as "Kath & Kim meets Wake In Fright" (Garden Reflexxx's Jen Atherton) and "one of the best Australian films of the year" (Cinema Australia), The Birthday Trip is a razor-sharp portrait of Aussie cultural stagnation, only in Cinemas from July 30.

Edited by Stephanie Jane Day, the book features coruscating essays from the likes of Patrick Marlborough, Ian Barr, Victoria Maxwell, Nathan Roche, Angus McGrath and Craig Quartermaine, and images from award-winning photographer T W Baker.

The Reservoir is a rarely-used, barely-known Cinema in Surry Hills (Maps link here), a three-minute walk from Central Station. Though located within, of all places, a Rydges Hotel, the Reservoir Cinema is an intimate space with 5.1 sound and a certain je ne sais quoi.
