Event description

Te Hā o Hineahuone // Wānanga Reo

Te Hā o Hineahuone brings a unique approach to te reo Māori learning and strengthening.

Supported by Te Mātāwai and delivered by NUKU, our first wānanga reo will take place at Castaways Resort (Glamping Site) Karioitahi, Waiuku.

This wānanga reo is for wāhine Māori conversational-intermediate speakers/learners of te reo Māori, all aspects of the wānanga will be delivered in te reo Māori, encompassing wāhine-related kaupapa. Traversing the areas of wellness, creativity and mātauranga tuku iho, we use these kaupapa to support language acquisition and learning.

Your ticket includes: Attendance to the wānanga and all workshops delivered onsite, twin share accommodation (2 participants per room), all kai for the duration of the wānanga and a pēke koha.

Pānuitia ēnei pātai, mēnā e hiahia ana koe te rēhita ki Te Haa o Hineahuone wananga reo.

Who can attend?
Te Hā o Hineahuone wānanga reo is open to wāhine Māori conversational-intermediate speakers/learners of te reo Māori. All aspects of the wānanga will be delivered in te reo Māori.

Do I need to kōrero Māori the whole time?
Āe. We are creating a safe space that encourages all participants to kōrero Māori for the duration of the wānanga, and beyond.

What if I make a mistake?
Nau mai e ngā hapa! It is from our mistakes that we get some of our best learning. Patua te taniwha whakamā!

Can i bring my pēpī/tamariki?
Kao. We know when we have our tamariki with us we cannot give our full attention to the kaupapa.
Creating a space that enables all participants to focus on the mātauranga and reo shared is a priority, so we are unable to include tamariki of any age at our wānanga reo.

Do I have to be there for the whole weekend? Can I attend for parts?
There are extremely limited tickets available and so by booking a spot you are expected to commit to the entire weekend and participate in all aspects of the wānanga reo.

Is there any transport available to help us get to the venue?
It is the participant's responsibility to get to the wānanga venue. Upon ticket purchase you will have the opportunity to join the Te Hā o Hineahuone Private Facebook Group where participants can meet each other in advance and can arrange car pooling if required.

If i can no longer make it, can I cancel my ticket?
Due to participant limits we will not be issuing any refunds on tickets. However, we may be able to support you in transferring your ticket if we get a waiting list. Please note that any transferred tickets must first be approved by NUKU to ensure we have all the relevant participant information required from the new participant to adhere to our health and safety, accommodation and kai requirements.

This will be a strictly alcohol-free, drug-free and smoke-free event.
