Te Kohuroa Rewilding Initiative
Te Kohuroa Rewilding Initiative is a community led project which aims to restore the marine ecosystem at Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay, Leigh.
The project is working in partnership with iwi, organisations and local community to build an inclusive, ground up approach to
the conservation mahi needed to heal Te Kohuroa’s marine ecosystem, which will be actioned through a locally run community
programme. The project has been through 18 months of enquiry, and is now at the proposal stage.
Community Consultation Event - this event offers a series of short presentations to introduce the project, then provides the opportunity for attendees to contribute their thoughts, ideas and feedback on the plan through brainstorming and collaboration. We encourage anyone who is interested in having a say about the future outcomes for Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay to come along and input on the planning.
The day looks like this:
- 11am - Welcome: Project Overview (Three speakers)
- 11.45am - Q+A with the panel
- 12noon - Break for Lunch (provided)
- 12.30pm - 2pm - Community Engagement: Share your views and feedback
