Event description

Te Kohuroa Rewilding Initiative

Te Kohuroa Rewilding Initiative is a community led project which aims to restore the marine ecosystem at Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay, Leigh.

The project is working in partnership with iwi, organisations and local community to build an inclusive, ground up approach to the conservation mahi needed to heal Te Kohuroa’s marine ecosystem, which will be actioned through a locally run community programme. The project has been through 18 months of enquiry, and is now at the proposal stage.

Community Consultation Event - this event offers a series of short presentations to introduce the project, then provides the opportunity for attendees to contribute their thoughts, ideas and feedback on the plan through brainstorming and collaboration. We encourage anyone who is interested in having a say about the future outcomes for Te Kohuroa Matheson Bay to come along and input on the planning.

The day looks like this:

  • 11am - Welcome: Project Overview (Three speakers)
  • 11.45am - Q+A with the panel
  • 12noon - Break for Lunch (provided)
  • 12.30pm - 2pm - Community Engagement: Share your views and feedback

We hope you can make it along. However if you can't attend but would like future information about the project or the chance to submit your thoughts and ideas, please sign up to our mailing list through the following link www.tekohuroarewilding.org
