Te Pātaka: Lottery Grants Changes // What Marae Need to Know

🗓 Thursday 23rd July 2026
⏰ 6.00pm – 7.30pm
🏠 Online
🎤 MC: Kelly Henare
👥 With Georgina Parata and Denise Takinui from DIA

Lottery funding has changed and this impacts marae significantly.

From July 2026, the Lottery Grants system has moved into a new structure, with changes to funding pathways, eligibility, application types, outcomes, and the way applications will be assessed. This special Te Pātaka session is a practical online kōrero for marae wanting to understand what the changes mean and how to prepare for the new application process.

We will be joined by Georgina and Denise from the Department of Internal Affairs, who will talk through the new Lottery Grants structure, the updated application process, funding types, outcomes, eligibility considerations, and key dates for upcoming funding rounds.

This is an opportunity for marae to hear directly from DIA kaimahi, ask pātai, and get clear information before the next funding round opens.

We will cover:

• what has changed in the Lottery Grants system
• how the new application process works
• the different funding types available
• how to align marae kaupapa to the new outcomes
• what documents and information marae should prepare
• what to consider if your marae needs a fund holder
• key dates for upcoming funding rounds

This session is designed to be practical, relevant and useful for marae trustees, marae committees, administrators, kaimahi and anyone supporting marae funding applications.

Marae can still apply but the system has shifted. Let’s make sure marae are informed, prepared and ready.
