We’re excited to partner with Ako Academy to bring this engaging, two-part online workshop to our wider network — creating space to deepen understanding and build confidence in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our everyday work.

Delivered across two focused sessions, this workshop is designed to strengthen both confidence and competence in understanding, honouring, and upholding Te Tiriti in contemporary workplace contexts.

Together, we’ll explore Te Tiriti from its historical foundations through to its modern-day relevance, gaining culturally grounded insights and practical strategies that support meaningful partnership, protection, and participation. Each session builds toward authentic, actionable steps you can take to embed Te Tiriti-aligned practice within your team and organisation.

Whether you’re new to Te Tiriti learning or have previously attended similar training, this workshop is designed to go deeper — strengthening knowledge, challenging thinking, and supporting more meaningful, practical application in your day-to-day work.

To help translate learning into action, we encourage you to attend alongside a colleague so you can reflect together and support each other to apply the insights within your team.

Please note! To create a safe and respectful space for open kōrero and shared experiences, the sessions will not be recorded.

The full workshop includes two sessions:

Session 1 | 9.30am - 12.30pm | Wednesday 25 March 2026

Session 2 | 9.30am - 12.30pm | Wednesday 1 April 2026

What we’ll cover:

The context before Te Tiriti
Te Tiriti o Waitangi – origins and intent
The context after Te Tiriti
Te Tiriti in today’s world
Developing a practical Te Tiriti action plan for your workplace

What you’ll walk away with:

Having time to reflect on your own role and responsibilities in upholding Te Tiriti in their work.
A clear understanding of what was happening before 1840 and what was actually agreed to in Te Tiriti.
An understanding of the difference between Te Tiriti and the English Treaty and why that difference still matters today.
An understanding of how breaches of Te Tiriti have shaped the realities and inequities we see in Aotearoa now.
An understanding of what honouring Te Tiriti looks like in today’s context, including partnership, protection, and participation.
Leave with practical, achievable actions to bring Te Tiriti commitments into everyday practice and decision-making.
