Te Wiki Āhua o Aotearoa FW26 - Chimæra
Description
According to Greek Mythology, the Chimæra ('she-goat') was a fearsome fire-breathing hybrid creature from Lycia, Asia Minor. This magnificent creature was believed to be a composure of different fearsome animal parts. In most depictions, it is shown primarily as a lion with a goat's head protruding from its back and a tail that ends in the head of a snake. A number of representations also include dragon wings. The context of this runway leans into the bravery and versatility of feminine individuals - analogous to the Chimæra - as multi-faceted, multi-talented beings to be feared in the best way possible.
This amalgamation of divine energy includes Āhua's second-ever jewellery runway, featuring Chloe Giles (Anthurium), Avara Moody (Avara Studio), Jessica Dew (Screaming Jewellery), Emma King (Venus Rose) & Meg Van Hale (M.V.H Jewellery). Following, we have fashion designers Neve Sutherland (Helena Sutherland), Isabella Miscisco (CiscoBella) & Ruby Allpress (Rotten)- showcasing their collections inspired by a blend of traditional and modern feminine silhouettes.
This encapsulating runway experience calls for people of all genders to admire and take inspiration from the space we hold for femininity today.
