What is Tea Ceremony?
Tea Ceremony is a traditional, subtle, natural-medicine practice, held together by the 4 pillars of
Purity, Tranquility, Harmony and Respect, heavily influenced by taoism, zen and all things wabi sabi.
A way to clear the dross of every day life, connect to a deeper self, and be truly present with the beauty of reality, as it emerges. There is no right or wrong way to participate. Come as you are.
Traditionally, this is a still and silent practice, which involves sharing bowls of high-quality, old-growth tea in a small group - usually for about an hour, at the beginning or end of the day.
All elements present - incense, flowers, ceramics, water, tea and more - are sourced carefully and intentionally, so as to amplify the harmony, intention and purity of the space.

- What does a tea ceremony entail? Do I have to do anything?
In tea - there is nothing to do, and no one to be.
We sit together on the floor, for about hour, and drink tea. Stillness + silence are encouraged. If movement is necessary, it is advised to do so with as much subtlety and attunement to the shared space as possible. Refraining from unnecessary sounds helps other guests enjoy their own experience. You may use the bathroom at anytime.
Tea in Ceremony is a solo venture, shared. Where much of modern-life is about active and direct human-to-human contact, the space of tea asks us to redefine those terms. In tea, we bask in a gentler, but somehow - deeper - form of contact.
- Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes - we are fully wheelchair accessible. Please let us know if you are attending in a wheelchair, so we can make appropriate space for you.
- Do I need to sit on the floor?
We are happy to provide extra supports or chairs for those who need them. Please message us in advance if this applies to you.
- Is the tea caffeinated?
Yes - we serve high-quality varieties of Camellia Sinesis and Camellia Assamica only, occasionally mixing gentle
Chinese herbs and flowers into our tea blends.
If you are sensitive to caffeine - it may help to know that the first 3 bowls of the ceremony contain the most caffeine -
after this, the amounts found in your bowl are very small.
Guests are invited to drink as much or as little tea as they like - placing their bowl at their feet should they wish to sit out a round of service. - What if I am late?
While aiming for an early arrival is optimal, we understand that this isn't always how life pans out. If you find yourself running late - no need to worry. Simply text Nico on 0423665571 so she can assure your entry.
