Join local Caroline Pidcock and Liz Courtney from the Women's Climate Congress (WCC) for a welcoming community conversation exploring what matters most to women in the Dungog and Hunter region and how we can work together to create meaningful local impact around climate solutions. (Young children welcome, with a games corner for them to play in). The Women's Climate Congress exists to strengthen women's leadership, resilience, and connection across Australia. In 2025, we listened to rural women and heard a clear, urgent gap: there were few existing programs meeting their needs at the intersection of climate impacts, isolation, and community action. In response, we built something new. The Rural & Regional Climate Hubs.
In 2026, WCC is launching four pilot hubs in Australia: Dungog, Portland, Wagga Wagga, and Castlemaine. Each hub will provide women with a trusted space to share knowledge, grow leadership, and co-design a community project to support their collective goals.
Caroline is a new local in the Dungog community, and Liz Courtney, an award-winning international filmmaker and one of Australia’s 100 Women of Influence, will join the discussion.
Together, this afternoon's listening circle will focus on shaping the vision for Dungog’s Women’s Climate Hub, aiming to develop two community-led projects over the coming year.
Rural and Regional Climate Hub - Dungog
Supporting Rural Women. Strengthening Communities. Creating Local Solutions.
What could happen if women across our region came together to shape practical, community-led solutions for the future?
Join us in Dungog for an inspiring day of conversation, connection and action as we explore the launch of the first regional Women’s Climate Hub in New South Wales, a space designed to empower rural and regional women to lead innovative projects that strengthen communities, build resilience and create sustainable local solutions.
Supported by the Women's Climate Congress (WCC), this initiative is part of a growing national movement amplifying the voices, ideas and leadership of women across rural and regional Australia.
About the Rural and Regional Climate Hubs (R&RCH)
In 2025, listening circles with rural women in the Bendigo and Riverina areas highlighted growing concerns about climate impacts, social isolation, pressures on disaster recovery, and a lack of locally tailored support. In response, WCC is launching Rural & Regional Climate Hubs in 2026, five pilot programs to strengthen resilience, leadership, and community connection across regional Australia, with a goal to expand support across 2027-2030.
About the Women’s Climate Congress
Women’s Climate Congress is a national, nonpartisan movement helping women lead practical climate resilience and community action across Australia. Over the past six years, WCC has grown into a national network of more than 1,000 members, supported by volunteers, facilitators and regional partners working across generations, sectors and communities.
Our work uses circle-based dialogue to create trusted local spaces where women can connect, share lived experience, strengthen leadership skills and develop practical responses to climate, well-being and community challenges. We support First Nations knowledge, value inter-generational learning, and support women to turn concern into local action and hope.
Together, we can build stronger communities, support rural and regional women’s leadership, and create solutions that leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
