Afternoon Tea with Addheka - An uplifting story of a polio survivor from the killing fields of Cambodia and her inspirational journey to leadership.
Event description
How did a teenage girl disabled from polio survive the killing fields of Cambodia to graduate from nursing school, become the principal of the Khmer Language School and founder of Aid Projects of Mercy survive while over a million healthy people didn't?
Addheka came from an unusually large family with 24 siblings. Sadly, over a short period of just 3 years in the murderous Khmer Rouge regime, she lost just about all of them, including her father and mother.
The young city girl who couldn't walk to school survived horrific living and working conditions in the rice fields. Being wet, cold and hungry was part of her everyday life. On many instances when she could have lost her life, she pulled through unexpectedly with the help of a passer-by. Through a series of life preserving miracles, she often thought “If on this earth there are angels" this must be their face.
Come meet Addheka on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at 3pm.
Get a first-hand account of how she pulled through those darkest periods of her life, and what motivates her to be who she is and do what she does.
Copies of Addheka's autobiography will be available for sale. The costs of production has already been donated. So 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these books will go to "Aid Project of Mercy" for the poorest of the children in Cambodia.
