Event description

Educators will be introduced to a Gioia Girolamo, professional dancer’s process-based practice to explore the elements of dance.  The workshop will unpack the transferrable skills in dance and how to apply them to curriculum and cross curriculum areas. The workshop will include sharing improvisation ideas and collaborative practices to make dance phrases that support students to feel a sense of mastery when practicing dance.
Whether you are an educator with existing dance skills or none, this workshop will deepen your capacity to explore any topic through non-verbal expressive means of dance.

A certificate of professional learning will be provided. This professional learning workshop will support you in demonstrating the following AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teacher: 3.4, 4.1, 4.4, 6.4

Artist: Gioia Girolamo
Gioia is a dancer and choreographer passionate about using movement to convey emotions and tell stories. She holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) from Flinders University and an Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance) from TafeSA. She has collaborated with various local South Australian choreographers such as Tobiah Booth-Remmers and Alison Currie, as well as international artists including Lee Brummer who is based in Sweden. She has performed at both the Cabaret under the Stars and Adelaide Fringe festivals, and has also appeared as a guest performer with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
