TEDxCanberra Conversations are free community networking events where we invite you to join fellow Canberrans for a conversation about big ideas. Each event features a selected TED Talk, a presentation by a special guest and time for questions and open conversation.

In this month's Conversation, we are exploring the theme: Unity in the age of discord. All through January and February, protesting groups descended on Canberra with views which couldn't contrast more with those held by most who live in this city. The episode highlighted the dramatic gulf that exists today between different parts of Australia around key issues concerning our future. As we approach the 2022 Federal Election, we invite you to explore with us in this latest edition of TEDxCanberra Conversations: how could we use the upcoming election to learn to agree and disagree constructively with each other again?

We will watch Julia Dahr's TED 2018 talk on "How to disagree productively and find common ground", and then hear from a panel discussion between Mark Chenery (CEO, Common Cause), Tim Lo Surdo (Founder, Democracy in Colour) and Sally Dooley (TEDxCanberra Speaker Coach). The discussion will be facilitated TEDxCanberra's licensee, Chun-Yin San. We will then invite you to join in conversation, both in the form of questions to our panelists as well as with each other through an informal but structured short activity.

Registrations will open from 17:20. You will be able to network with fellow attendees over drinks and snacks, provided by our Community and Venue Partner Work Club Two24.
