THEME DESCRIPTION:

The ‘New Normal’, the ‘Global Reset’, and the ‘once-in-a-lifetime turning point’. We seem to be living in the midst of great transformation where the world continues to change before our eyes. Naturally, we seek comfort in ‘following the flow’, desperately trying to fit in. However, what if the ‘flow’ is leading us to a dead-end? Should we follow? Should we continue to intoxicate ourselves and our planet with irreversible environmental degradation, exacerbating inequalities, and political unrest? What are we seeking?

In 2021,  TEDxUoA invites you to take that much needed time to stop and reflect along with our innovative speakers from the community who are working hard to pave a more promising future for mankind, in the perspective of the economy, current affairs, psychology, technology, and many more exciting topics. So join us. Hit pause. Have a think. In the scope of your unique past, present and future, where are you headed to next?

Humanitix donates 100% of profits from booking fees to education for disadvantaged kids! For our conference, we have chosen to support the cause 'A better start for disadvantaged Māori and Pasifika students.'

New Zealand’s education gap is one of the largest in the world and Māori and Pasifika students face many unique challenges that have made education gaps difficult to close. Māori and Pasifika students are less likely to leave the education system with a qualification and more likely to leave school with a qualification below NCEA level 1. This project supports New Zealand learners and families who find it difficult to access or afford local, global and digital citizenship to close the gap.
