Teen Crash Avoidance Class – 11/21/2026
Description
Teen Crash Avoidance Skills
This one-day class prepares young drivers ages 15–22 with a permit or license for the road ahead. Students gain practical driving experience to develop car control and defensive driving skills. Students should have at least two months of permitted driving experience before attending.
Class time: 8:30 am–2:30 pm.
Location: South Metro Fire Training Center, 17801 E. Plaza Dr., Parker, CO 80134.
Class cost: $180. Complete the class and submit the assigned essay to qualify for an $80 refund.
What you’ll learn
• Threshold braking: braking at the threshold of lockup while avoiding a skid or spin.
• Crash avoidance: maintaining control while maneuvering out of harm’s way.
• Skid control and recovery: maneuvering and braking on icy, snowy, or slippery surfaces and recovering from a skid or spin.
• Defensive driving: shuffle steering, aim-high vision, proper braking, and hand positioning for quick reaction and controlled steering.
• Distracted and impaired driving: experience how distraction and impairment affect driving capabilities.
Important: This class does NOT qualify as the six hours of behind-the-wheel drive time required by the state following a 30-hour driver’s education class. It can count toward the 50 hours of practice required for a permitted driver before licensing.
