Teen Mental Health First Aid Training for LGBTQIA+ Young People

Y NSW are partnering with YAAS! Young Authentic and Social to deliver FREE Teen Mental Health First Aid training for 12-17 year old LGBTQIA+ Young People & allies. Spend the day nurturing your own mental health and learning how to support your friends. The training focuses on building confidence, breaking down stigma and increasing help-seeking skills. 

All participants will receive a Mental Health First Aid qualification, a great asset to add to your resume!

Lunch & snacks provided. Please bring a bottle of water.

FREE but must be registered to attend.

What does the course cover?

"Teen MHFA is an education course that teaches teenagers about the different types of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations in young people. The course teaches participants how to recognise changes in a friends’ thinking, feelings or behaviour that may indicate the presence of a mental health problem, how to offer initial mental first aid support and how to connect them with a trusted adult.

Topics covered include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bullying and abuse, intoxication, non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

Teen MHFA focuses on improving the mental health literacy of a whole cohort, to reduce the stigmatising behaviours and attitudes that often prevent teens from getting the help and support they need." - from MHFA.com.au

It's a Gorgeous Gosford Summer Takeover as we park our virtual caravan at the Parkhouse in Kibble park for live music, workshops from Burlesque to crafty good stuff like felting and macrame! There is fun for all ages with School holiday action as well as free community haircuts!
