Temescal Masters Adult Learn to Swim Fall 2025
Event description
Have you always wanted to learn to swim but never had the opportunity? Did you have a negative or frightening experience in the water when you were younger that prevented you from wanting to try again? You’re not alone! About one-third of adults in the United States are not water safe. We’re trying to change that. Temescal Aquatic Masters (TEME) is proud to host the largest USMS Adult Learn to Swim (ALTS) program in the country.
Who is ALTS for?
You may be a good candidate for ALTS if you:
Never learned how to swim
Don’t feel comfortable getting into the pool
Don’t feel comfortable putting your face into the water
Don’t feel comfortable jumping into or swimming in the deep end
Can’t float on your stomach or back
ALTS might not be for you if:
You can swim the length of a swimming pool (even if you are slow!)
You know how to swim one or more strokes
You feel comfortable jumping into the deep end of a swimming pool
How does ALTS work?
ALTS consists of four 50-minute sessions on Sunday afternoons at Temescal Pool (371 45th St, Oakland, CA).
Each swimmer will be paired up with a volunteer swim instructor who will work with you one-on-one to learn swimming basics with the goal of being water-safe by the end of the four sessions. But everyone moves at their own pace and your instructor will adjust to meet your needs.
Registration costs $30 (+ fees) per swimmer and includes swim goggles and a swim cap.
What are the dates for the Fall 2025 program?
Fall 2025 ALTS will take place on the following dates:
Sunday, September 14
Sunday, September 21
Sunday, September 28
Sunday, October 5
