TEN-360: Procedural Clinical Skills Workshop 2027

This is one day workshop is designed for medical officers, nurse practitioners, nurses and paramedics provides hands on training in a range of procedural skills required for clinical practice. Procedural skills offered in the workshop include a range of basic (core skills) and advanced procedural skills. The workshop incorporates competency based assessment training for procedures such as Peripheral IV Cannulation and Male catheterisation. 

The workshop allows individual participants to choose the procedural skills most relevant to their clinical practice. Participants may choose to repeat workshop at a later date allowing them to cover a broader range of procedural skills.  

Participants select 6 options from the following list of skills offered in the workshop.

• Peripheral IV Cannulation (including competency assessment)

• Difficult IV Cannulation: Neonatal, Paediatric and Major Trauma

• Ultrasound guided IV Cannulation

• Insertion of an Indwelling catheter (Including competency assessment for Male IDC) 

• Nasogastric Tube insertion (Paediatric, Adult), High flow nasal Prong Oxygen (AIRVO)

• Arterial line: Equipment, Preparation, Procedure and Setup (relevant to both nursing and medical staff) 

• Endotracheal Intubation: Equipment, Preparation and Procedure (relevant to both nursing and medical staff) 

• Chest Tube Insertion: Equipment, Preparation, Procedure and Setup of the chest drain  (relevant to both nursing and medical staff) 

• Lumbar Puncture: Equipment, Preparation and Procedure

• Noninvasive ventilation (CPAP / BiPAP)

• Ultrasound guided Fascia Iliaca Block, Suprapubic Catheterisation

• Eye Procedures: Examination, Morgan Lens eye irrigation, Corneal FB removal
