Join us for a powerful kōrero with MPs, mayoral candidates, and rangatahi as we dive into one of the biggest questions in Aotearoa politics: Should 16 and 17-year-olds get the vote?

📍 Where: Otago University Union Main Common Room
📅 When: Saturday 30th August, 12–2:30pm (refreshments provided!!)

This interactive panel brings together MPs, current councillors, and young candidates to tackle questions about voter turnout, youth voices, and the future of civic participation in Aotearoa.

💡 What motivates people to vote?
💡 Are young people ready for the responsibility of the ballot box?
💡 How can we build a democracy that truly represents everyone?

Moderated by Malak Tamimi, the discussion will move beyond “for or against” and into the deeper challenges and opportunities of lowering the voting age and engaging young people in civics education.

🎟️ Free entry, open to all! Whether you’re a young person not yet able to vote, a first-time voter, a seasoned campaigner, or just curious about the future of politics, this is your chance to listen, challenge, and be heard.

Let’s reimagine democracy, together. 🌏✊
