Our classes are designed to immerse students in art making, exploring subject matter, expressive forms, materials and techniques. We focus on assisting our students to imagine, plan and realise their ideas.

PAINTING $350 Under the guidance of an experienced tutor, you will l be introduced to fundamentals of painting with Acrylics. You will explore styles of painting through discussion and exploration of material and subject matter. At the end of the course, you will have an understanding of line, value, colour mixing and composition. You will have explored approaches to applying paint and mark making to continue developing your art practice. All Levels are welcome in our painting classes. The beginner class is also great for anyone who is a bit rust or would like to refresh their skills. | What Materials to bring • An A4 visual diary • Rags (lots!), • Brushes for acrylic (variety of sizes) and a few hog bristle brushes • A palette knive • Acrylic paint • Clear painting medium Bring what you have, please use ‘artist’ quality paints. Inferior paints do not produce good results. Choose “Structure” or Heavy Body” paints. (you can mix brands if necessary) We recommend A2 Chroma (also called Atelier A2) when starting your artist’s journey These are great quality for the serious student at a great price point. Artist quality paints we recommend. EXPERIMENTAL PRINTMAKING $375 (includes a materials/ paper pack) Under the guidance of an experienced tutor, you will learn experimental printmaking techniques. You will explore a variety of materials for mark making, ways to use traditional and non-tradition paper and printing surfaces. DEVELOPING YOUR STYLE $350 Under the guidance of an experienced tutor, you will learn as a class group and individually how to develop your own drawing or painting artworks. This class encourages you to explore your own individual style through discussion and exploration of material and subject matter. No experience required as there will be a permanent still life setup for those who are just beginners and want to try art for the first time or who want to improve their skills. These classes are designed to be inclusive and social and offer a great introduction to art and for those who want to have some fun, whilst going home having learnt something new At the end of the course, you will have achieved the ability to use your resource material to develop ideas through the exploration of line, value, colour mixing and composition. | What materials to bring • A sketchbook A4 or A3 or sheets of cartridge paper Drawing pencils ranging from 2B to 6B • Charcoal, black and white conte and rubber • Your paints and palette • Wiping rags or paper towels, no wet wipes please. • Your selection of brushes. • Your selection of quality paints • A Canvas that is portable • Students who will be working on there own individualised projects need to bring their own resource materials. These include photos, A4 printouts, sketches or objects of fascination. | |
