Soup Seminar Series - Surf Online Safe (SOS) with Paul Litherland

We are pleased to announce the return of our Soup Seminar Series, this time focusing on "surfing" safely online. It is a troubling reality that many platforms do not protect and police the virtual spaces they create, and no one is at more risk than our young people - we need to do all we can to arm them with knowledge and insight into the potential dangers they face even with simple surfing! Students in years 5, 6, 7 and 8 will take part in age-appropriate sessions during their school day, and this evening session is designed to support and delve deeper into that learning with content specifically designed for parents, grandparents and carers.
This important and informative session will be presented by Paul Litherland, who was a WA police officer for 20 years and worked at the coal face of online crime. Since leaving the force in 2014, Paul has grown to become one of the nations most recognised and highly awarded educators in the fields of cyber safety and internet awareness, culminating in him being named the 2022 WA Australian of the Year.
Tickets are $5 for BCGS families and $15 for interested community members, and include delicious homemade soup and crusty bread, tea and coffee.
