Skill Development Program for Primary School Players

This program offers a fantastic opportunity for junior basketball players seeking additional training, led by experienced NBA-approved coaches. It’s designed for different age groups and genders, with sessions that blend fun and skill development to ensure every participant has a productive and enjoyable experience!

ROOKIES Ages 6-8 (born 2018-2020)

ALL STARS Ages 9-12 (born 2014-2017)

Player groupings are carefully optimised each session to ensure every player has the best opportunity to learn, grow and compete the NBA way!

Lead Coach: David Pereyra

David Pereyra is the current Sydney Basketball Operations Coordinator & Lead Coach of the NBA Basketball School Australia. He is a qualified Physical Education professional and ENEBA Level 1 Basketball Coach with over 10 years of coaching experience across Argentina, Spain and Australia, including more than two years with NBA Basketball School Australia.

Throughout his career, David has worked across youth development, school basketball and competitive team environments, coaching players from grassroots through to advanced youth levels. His experience includes Club Instituto León XIII and sports development programs in Argentina, U15 basketball in Castelldefels, Spain, and Kincoppal-Rose Bay School in Sydney, where he has coached across Junior and Senior School programs and competitive teams.

As part of NBA Basketball School Australia, David has coached and led weekly development programs, specialised training sessions, team programs and holiday camps across Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, gaining extensive experience delivering the NBA Basketball School methodology across different programs and player groups. His international experience with the program also includes participating in the NBA Basketball School Abu Dhabi Games 2025.

David's coaching philosophy focuses on individual skill development, decision-making, basketball IQ and game understanding, while creating a positive and competitive environment where players are challenged to improve, build confidence and develop their passion for basketball.

Lead Coach: Orlando Palma

Orlando is a former professional basketball player with extensive experience both on the court and in youth player development. He played professionally in Colombia for four years before furthering his career in Mexico, gaining valuable experience across different basketball systems and competitive environments.

Following his playing career, Orlando transitioned into coaching, serving as Head Coach at Gigantes Club in Barranquilla, Colombia, where he worked closely with athletes aged 15–18, focusing on skill development, game understanding, and player growth.

Orlando’s coaching centres on helping players improve their individual skills, basketball IQ, and confidence in a positive learning environment.

Lead Coach: Chol Adup

Chol is a current professional player in the NBL1 with Syndey Comets. His college career included playing at NCAA school, Colorado Christian University and Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. He's also gained professional playing experience overseas.

As a coach with a strong background in developing athletes at multiple levels, he's passionate about the next generation of basketball players. He's a current senior coach at Australian basketball powerhouse, Newington College and also applies his trade at Hoops Capital Academy, the development pathway connected to the Sydney Kings. Chol is the Director and Head Coach of DNA Basketball, where he focusses on creating opportunities and helping young athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

His goal as a coach is to use his playing experience and knowledge of the game to help each player reach their full potential, both on and off the court.
