Always wanted to give pottery a try? Fancy a chance to relax and get your hands dirty during the middle of the week? Or perhaps you are looking for a welcoming environment to return to ceramics?

Join local ceramicist Kim Holmes of Earthen Ceramics at a Wednesday morning wheel throwing class, for beginners or new potters, focusing on surface design.

Kim has a tertiary qualification in visual arts, a post graduate diploma in teaching and has immersed herself in the world of ceramics for 5+ years. Kim teaches this beginners wheel class and has a small but bustling home studio @earthernceramicsaotearoa. Her background includes working with youth and the disability sector.

What You’ll Learn:

How to prepare and centre clay on an electric pottery wheel.
Throw and trim tumblers, small bowls and side plates.
Decorate your creations using sgraffito surface design technique and glaze your items with dipping technique.

What to Bring:

A towel and an apron.
A creative spirit and willingness to get a little bit dirty!
3kg of clay is included in the ticket price, after that clay can be purchased for $5 per kg from your tutor.
