    Event description

Join us for a really special evening of wine and food at Julie Restaurant.

Located in the historic Abbotsford Convent, Julie Restaurant is playing host to Loire Valley winemakers 'Terre de l'Elu', Charlotte and Thomas Carsin.

Based in Anjou, the couple farm 22 hectares of vines dotted between 30 different plots and have received organic and biodynamic certification. Under vine is predominantly Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, with smaller quantities of Gamay, Grolleau Noir, Grolleau Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pineau d'Aunis.

Thomas and Charlotte take just as much care for their wines in the winery as they do in the vineyards with only natural fermentations and very minimal other additives.

Their most recent release is something they are calling 'Cuvée Ephemere' which they only release in years that show impeccable beauty of the season, or when harvest was bountiful and the wines precise.

We have chosen three wines from the release to pair with a very special menu, put together by wonderful friend of the venue, Harriet Tomlinson.  Hailing from Melbourne originally, and having a storied appearance on Masterchef in 2021, Harry is now based along the surf coast working, cooking and tending to a small local farmHer values around produce, sustainability and quality in food and wine is the perfect match to our visiting winemakers, and for us at Julie.  Harry will be cooking her beautiful, French inspired menu alongside Jules and the Julie kitchen team on the night.

Tickets include a 3 course meal with matched wines.  We will hear from vignerons and viticulturalists Charlotte and Thomas Carsin about their vineyard and their approach to farming and winemaking.

Wine pairings will be talked through to you table side by our front of house team at Julie as well as great friends from Brix Fine Wines - Paul Hervy and Zac Walton.
