Territory Seasons Storytime and Play with Di Lucas

Join Northern Territory author and illustrator Di Lucas for an interactive storytelling session inspired by the seasons of the Top End.
Children will enjoy a reading of one of Di's picture books, followed by songs, movement and imaginative play. Using colourful silk cloths, children can become birds, trees, dingoes, crocodiles, the wind and other characters as they sing and move together through stories of the season.
The session concludes with an interactive puppet story, where children can choose from a collection of handmade puppets and help bring a seasonal tale to life.
Designed to encourage creativity, imagination and participation, this fun and engaging session introduces children to storytelling, drama and art through play.

Di Lucas
Diane Lucas grew up exploring the bush in New South Wales but has spent many years of her life in Northern Australia, after moving to Kakadu in her late twenties. She worked as a school teacher on an Aboriginal outstation and in turn was taught many things about the bush. From 1991 to 1996 Diane worked on a research project with Elders documenting their traditional resources on the South Alligator River floodplain and surrounds, in Kakadu for archival purposes. Diane now lives only two hours from Kakadu, with her husband . They travel in Northern Australia and Africa doing botanical and fire ecology work. Diane is inspired by the bush and finds she does much of her writing as she walks and spends time in the bush. Diane maintains a strong relationship with her Aboriginal family in Kakadu country. She has written numerous books, mainly focussed on natural and cultural stories for children. Diane also enjoys painting, writing, printing, weaving , puppetry, singing, dancing, gardening, laughing, walking, swimming.
