Event description

TERZETTA

Carmelia & Alison first collaborated for a Vivaldi Concerto with the NRSO back in 2009, and have been playing in ensembles & orchestras together ever since. When Zoe joined the Amatori, the three recognized an opportunity to form a Trio together. Despite the recent covid hiatus, they have maintained a strong musical bond and have impressed audiences with theirperformances in the Northern Rivers region.

Carmelia MacWilliam - Flute

Carmelia is a well-known regional musical identity. She migrated to Australia in 1989, after a successful solo & chamber music career in Europe & Canada, and moved to Perth, where she was interim Assistant Orchestra Manager for WASO, and then Music Librarian & Instrument Manager at Christ Church Grammar School. Since relocating to the Tweed region 2007, she has been soloist with the NRSO Camerata & the Amatori Chamber Orchestra. As a dedicated teacher and passionate chamber musician, Carmelia has given masterclasses in Rockhampton & Murwillumbah, and performs frequently with ensembles of her friends throughout the region, including for the Tyalgum Festival, Tweed Fusion, and Byron Music Society.

Alison Fletcher – Violin

Alison started playing the violin at age 6, flute at 9 and piano at 12. After attending the QLD Conservatorium ‘Junior Con’ during High School, she completed a B Mus (Performance) at the Qld Conservatorium, followed by a Post Grad degree in Education. She is currently the concertmaster of the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra, co-principal in the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra and co-concert-master of the Amatori Chamber Orchestra. She teaches at several primary & secondary schools on the region, and is a string/ensemble tutor in the CAPA program at Banora Point High School.

Zoe Heflin - Cello

Originally from West Virginia USA, where she completed a BMus (Composition), Zoe moved to the Northern Rivers in 2017. She began playing cello at age 3 and continues her ebullient musical journey, taking part in many projects around the Northern Rivers. She often performs in the Amatori Orchestra, Lismore Symphony Orchestra and LSO Quartet, and various chamber groups, and has recently joined an all-female A Cappella vocal ensemble called Syrinx. In addition to a growing private studio, she enjoys teaching young string players at Shearwater Steiner School (Mullumbimby).
