Wed, 30 Sep, 6:15pm - 7:30pm AEST

Description

Have you ever noticed the wonderful patterns created by ceramic tiles? Both simple and intricate patterns that repeat continuously, with just a single design?

A repeated design like this is called tessellation, and as well as guiding you to creating your own tessellated designs, Emilie will help you to carve your design into lino, and then emboss your lino 'stamp' into clay to create tiles. You could even use your lino cut design to print with!

No art experience necessary, just come and have a wonderful time!

What we will cover?

In this hands on workshop we will:

  • Explore the basics of tessellation to create simple designs
  • Learn the basics of lino carving materials, tools and techniques
  • Work with air dry clay to emboss our tessellated designs into tiles
  • While this beginner class uses air dry clay, you can use your lino design again and again to emboss into clay for kiln firing and glazing.

What will I need?

  • All materials provided
  • Please bring a container to transport your work home safely.
