2022 Refugee Week "All Welcome" community dinner
Event description
Refugee Week is Australia’s peak annual activity to inform the public about refugees and celebrate positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society, and a unique opportunity for us all to experience and celebrate the rich diversity of refugee communities.
For Refugee Week 2022, Mildura Rural City Council, with community partner organisation Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council (SMECC), are hosting a community dinner. Community members are invited to bring along a meal to share, hear stories from people who have refugee experience, and get to know each other. It would be fantastic if you could bring a dish that is special to you, your family, or culture, to share with others at the dinner.
We also need some volunteers on the night to be a table host, to help facilitate conversations between people. There will be a one hour training for volunteers held online a few days before the dinner. If you are interested in volunteering, please email claire.galvin@mildura.vic.gov.au
Please grab your free ticket and come along - all are welcome!
