Event description

DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND SECOND DATE ANNOUNCED FOR SATURDAY 4TH MAY

Join us for ‘A Fairytale of New York’: a one-off evening celebrating the enduring bond between chef Alistair McMurray and Commonfolk’s founder Sam Keck.

Nearly two decades ago on the Mornington Peninsula, their paths first crossed as two young hospitality workers sharpening their skills at Merricks General Store. Next, they worked together as sous chef and general manager at Eugen Mori’s enigmatic Wildcroft restaurant. This May, they are reuniting for one two nights only at Commonfolk Mornington to blend their unique talents in a dinner event that promises to be as unforgettable as the city that never sleeps.

Drawing on Alistair’s experience at the pinnacle of New York’s culinary scene, including his tenure as sous chef at the iconic Eleven Madison Park, this collaboration brings the magic of New York’s dining culture to the heart of the Mornington Peninsula. Together with Commonfolk’s kitchen team, Alistair will craft a sharing menu that is a tribute to his New York experience, while celebrating the best of Mornington Peninsula produce that shaped his culinary roots.

Guests will receive sparkling on arrival and be served a multi course set dinner and will need to put their trust in Alistair's culinary expertise. His love of improvisation and commitment to using only the freshest and best ingredients, means that the menu is subject to change up until the very last moment. Needless to say he's prepared to guarantee that it will be an unforgettable dining experience and no guest will leave unsatisfied.

The menu is ever evolving and may include courses and sides such as:

  • Coffee & Salt Baked Golden Beetroot
  • Warmed Blanc Bakery Sourdough
  • Snapper Crudo
  • Braised Lamb Shoulder
  • Grilled Sprouting Broccoli
  • Market Greens
  • Malted Chocolate Coffee Cake
  • Coffee & Tea

An alcohol pairing will be available for purchase on the evening alongside a carefully curated drinks list available by the glass or bottle.

‘A Fairytale of New York’ is not just a dinner; it’s a story of friendship, a testament to the journey from humble beginnings to achieving dreams, and a homage to the places that shape us.
