Event description

Join us for the Grand Final of the Allens Neota UTS Law Tech Challenge for Social Justice, where each team will present their apps to promote access to justice and where the grand final winners will be announced!

Over the year, teams of UTS Law Brennan Justice and Leadership students have teamed up with lawyers and technologists from international law firm Allens to create law apps using the Neota Logic app building platform. Each team has worked closely with a participating not-for-profit organisation to develop an automated app-based solution. The app aims to improve the way each organisation operates and promotes social justice.

UTS Law students and the Allens participants have built the law apps using Neota Logic software, designed specifically for developers with no prior programming experience. Based on an original program developed in the USA by Georgetown University Law School and Neota Logic Inc, the UTS Law Tech Challenge innovatively allows students to build apps for social justice as part of the UTS Law Brennan Justice and Leadership program.

Be inspired as the lawyers of today and tomorrow present their apps to an expert panel of judges including Peter Campbell, Head of Legal Product Lab at Allens, Julian Uebergang Managing Director APAC at Neota Logic and Professor Anita Stuhmcke, Dean of UTS Law.

You’ll have the chance to cheer these champions on whilst connecting with professionals and students with a keen interest in technology and social justice!

2022 participating NGOs include:

+ Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME)

+ Capital Punishment Justice Project

+ SPELD NSW

+ Opportunities Australia

These social justice warriors have also been busy plugging their efforts via LinkedIn and Instagram. Check out #LawTechChallenge in the lead-up to the event. The team with the most prominent social media presence will be awarded a Social Media Champion Award!
