The 3rd Leidhun-Tsok-Bum and Padmasambhava Empowerment in Sydney

Presiding Master:

H.H Tang Rinpoche from Bhutan

Host:

Khenpo Tsering Tashi

H.H Tang Rinpoche, born in 1962 in Eastern Tibet, demonstrated extraordinary bodhisattva qualities from a young age—serenity, compassion, and wisdom. He effortlessly mastered the foundational monastic studies including reading, writing, and ritual practices.

Rinpoche was formally recognized as the reincarnation of the great Khenpo Yabey Rinpoche. Many masters believe that Choetrul Rinpoche is the emanation of Gyalwa Gotsangpa, one of the 25 disciples of Guru Padmasambhava, and also the rebirth of Jangsey Ela Thokgyur, a great warrior and accomplished siddha from the era of King Gesar.

Rinpoche received extensive teachings and transmissions in both Sutrayana and Vajrayana traditions. In particular, he studied under his root guru, the unsurpassable Dharma King Kyabje Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, from whom he received the complete teachings and transmissions of Sutra, Tantra, and Dzogchen. Kyabje Rinpoche once publicly referred to Choetrul Rinpoche and Minthang Tulku Dorje Tenzung as “his two beloved disciples—his right and left eyes.”

Choetrul Rinpoche also received special Dzogchen transmissions from the Great Khenpo Munsel, the guru of Khenpo Yabey Rinpoche. Additionally, he received many profound teachings from Himalayan tertön (treasure revealer) Kongtang Dechen, as well as from eminent masters like Khenchen Sherab Södrak of the Jonang lineage.

In 1995, Rinpoche went on a pilgrimage to India. At that time, Pema Norbu Rinpoche (the father of H.H. Gyelwa Drukpa) invited him to Bhutan as his representative to spread the Dharma, predicting great benefit for sentient beings. In 1996, Rinpoche traveled to Bhutan. When he returned to Tibet with a group of Bhutanese disciples in 1999, Kyabje Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche advised him to stay in Bhutan and continue teaching the Dharma. Several years later, in 2008, His Majesty the Fifth King of Bhutan conferred Bhutanese citizenship upon Rinpoche in recognition of his vast benefit to the nation.

In 2012, Venerable Rinpoche established Choedeypung Monastery in Chumey, Bumthang, Bhutan, where over 100 monks now live and practice. The monastery has since become his main seat. Rinpoche has also founded numerous branch monasteries and retreat centers across Bhutan, where he personally provides food, clothing, shelter, and education for all practitioners in retreat.

Rinpoche is a principal holder and propagator of the lineage of Kyabje Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, especially the unique cycle of Manjushri Dzogchen practices revealed at Mount Wutai. These include precious instructions such as:

• “The Supplementary Guide to the Manjushri Peaceful Practice: The Buddha Bestowed into My Hand”

• “The Empowerment Ritual of the Manjushri Peaceful Practice”
