Event description

TIPIAC are thrilled to invite you to join us for "The 8 Ways Roadmap: An Educator's Guide to Cultural Inclusivity." The 2 day training program will take place face to face in Brisbane, each day starting at 8:45am and finishing at 3 pm time. In this transformative 2 day training program we will delve into the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educational pedagogies, cultures and histories, learning how we can weave these tradtional and contemporary educational practices, traditions, and perspectives into the very fabric of our educational landscape.

Together, we will explore the foundational pillars of the 8 Ways Aboriginal Educational Pedagogy, drawing on centuries of wisdom to create an environment that celebrates diversity and fosters understanding. Through storytelling, land-based learning, and community engagement, we will empower ourselves and our students to embrace the beauty of Australia's cultural heritage.

This two-day immersive training session designed for educators keen on integrating Aboriginal pedagogies into their teaching practices. This workshop is anchored in the transformative "8 Ways" framework, a dynamic approach that deeply respects and draws from Aboriginal knowledge systems and ways of learning. Throughout our journey together over the two days, we will also explore the enriching perspectives of Uncle Ernie Grant's holistic teaching and learning framework, as well as Professor Martin Nakata's Cultural Interface. These methodologies, while centered in First Nations' wisdom, offer invaluable insights and approaches that can benefit all learners. Our goal is to provide you with the tools, understanding, and inspiration to weave these rich, diverse First Nations histories, cultures, and knowledge systems into your curriculum, creating a more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful educational experience for your students. Prepare to engage, reflect, and transform your teaching practices in ways that will honour the land, its peoples, and their enduring long lasting legacies.

So come join the TIPIAC team on this informative journey as we pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in education. Let us honour the past, celebrate the present, and shape a future where every voice is heard and First Nations knowledge and cultures are respected.
