The A Cappella Academy in Wellington: 2 days of choral workshops plus concert
Event description
Here's an exciting opportunity for all choirs - The A Cappella Academy. This 2-day training course is a place where vocal ensembles can learn the unique set of skills to become more accomplished choral singers. Under the expert tuition of Ex-King's Singer, Tim Wayne-Wright, you'll examine and learn what it truly means to be an ensemble singer. During the workshops, Tim will cover the main issues and hurdles that every choir faces - from vowel matching and achieving a good blend, to tips on how to truly engage and communicate with your audience through the power of vocal colours. All of the key elements of accomplished ensemble singing will be explained and explored. Enjoy perfecting your a cappella singing skills as you craft your chosen repertoire before taking to the stage for a public concert to conclude the course.
This course is open to both individuals and vocal ensembles. If you are registering as an individual, please state your voice part alongside your name and you will be placed into the Academy Ensemble mixed choir.
The inaugural A Cappella Academy in New Zealand will be held at Queen Margaret College in Wellington on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April this year. Whether you're a Big Sing choir, a small group of university students, barbershoppers or a large adult community choir, everyone is welcome to take part in this fascinating journey through the world of a cappella. This will be a truly unique experience that will take your ensemble singing skills to the next level!
Early bird offer for the first 100 tickets sold: $35 pp. $40 pp thereafter. $10 concert tickets (for non-workshop participants).
