Being seen, felt, and met in ways that are natural and empowered, but often just not regularly available in our culture.
The focus of this particular event is on the fascinating foundational exercises of the Meisner Technique.
Putting them together into an alchemical and organic flowing practice of human resonance.
These exercises are self-paced and gently exploratory, yet work well in assisting us to look under the hood of who we truly are (and engage with others doing the same), so we recommend participants have done at least a little prior exploration of self-development and already know that journey is something they like.

EVOLVING FROM AN ACTING TRAINING TO BE EMPOWERED LIFE-SKILLS FOR NON-ACTORS TOO

Decades ago, no-nonsense genius acting trainer Sanford Meisner invented exercises to train his students to connect with all the facets of themselves.
So they would never need to 'try to act' again, but instead could effortlessly interact from their authentic core.
Apart from pioneer Gabrielle Roth, it took the rest of us a surprisingly long time to say 'Wait a minute! How come this is only for actors?!!!' And create a version of the foundations as a stand-alone self-discovery and expression training.

Foundations of Self-Knowing & Authentic Expression:

The Meisner Method includes a bunch of powerful practices put together into something called 'The Repetitions'. Meisner rigorously trained his students to master these elements of authenticity BEFORE introducing any Script or Scene work. Specifically, Sanford Meisner's world-famous 'Repetitions' do not normally involve any 'acting' even when they are part of an actors' training course.

This is what makes these practices so valuable for both actors and (the way we have adapted them) people who are looking for deeper self-knowing and more confident self-expression and relating. They are solid 'getting real and grounded with yourself and other' practices, that you THEN take into acting or just into your life in general if you are not an actor.

This event is a step up from a beginner's workshop on the 'who am I really?' journey.

As always, this event is easy-going & supportive. Find your own level, and explore as you see fit.
Nonetheless, we don't recommend it as someone's first-ever self-discovery workshop, as these exercises can be surprisingly effective in assisting us to look inside at our shadows and edges - even delivered in this friendly, fun and social way. After all, that's the whole point of this work.

People don't need experience specifically in A.R. or Meisner to attend, but do need to already have done at least a little self-discovery work - enough to know that you like it, and it's good for you. If you have significant unresolved trauma and are not receiving professional therapy for that, then its probably best to get more experience with regular A.R. events before attending this one.

NCAE arose from the Melbourne group that pioneered A.R. in Australia 2006-2022. We hold a collaborative space. Our approach is grounded and supportive, and very 'human'. Yes, we have a lot of experience, but are also just on the path like anyone else.

Just because it feels amazing to really engage with others more deeply and richly in a collaborative and supportive ways.
To upgrade natural fluency in such things as presence, intuition, boundaries, and relating skills and confidence. (Yes all these can be learned, just like any skills.)
For deeper insights into the essence of who we truly are. Many folk tell us that A.R. has assisted them to move beyond old patterns, conditioned habits & limitations.
