AN AUTHENTIC RELATING (A.R.) SOCIAL EVENT THAT IS ALSO A DEEPER DIVE INTO THE FIELD

Facilitated, collaborative, un-pressured, explorations and reflections in pairs & small groups.
For fun, building conscious community, self-discovery, and expanding our relating skills & confidence.
Opportunities to be seen, felt, and met in ways that are natural and empowered, but sadly often just not regularly available in our culture.
The main focus of this particular event is on the fascinating foundational exercises of the Meisner Technique.
And putting them together into an alchemical and organic flowing practice of human resonance.
These exercises are self-paced, fun and fascinating, but also work really well in assisting us to look under the hood of who we truly are (and engage with others doing the same), so we recommend participants have done at least a little prior exploration of self-development and already know that journey is something the like.

MEISNER TECHNIQUE FOUNDATIONS & SUPPORTING A.R. PRACTICES

Decades ago, no-nonsense genius acting trainer Sanford Meisner invented exercises to train his students to connect with all the facets of themselves.
So they would never need to 'try to act' again, but instead could effortlessly interact from their authentic core.
Apart from pioneer Gabrielle Roth, it took the rest of us a surprisingly long time to say 'Wait a minute! How come this is only for actors?!!!' And create a version of the foundations as a stand-alone self-discovery and expression training.
[If you are an actor with experience in Meisner you are welcome to attend. Just be aware that this is an A.R. event for non-actors - and does NOT include any acting.]

People who have attended our A.R. events before will already have encountered some of these practices. This afternoon is an opportunity to go on an immersive exploration of their magic. As always, this event is easy-going & supportive. Find your own level, and explore as you see fit.

This specific workshop is one step up from a beginner's event on the 'who am I really?' journey. (Though you do not need to have experience in A.R. or the Meisner Technique.)

Facilitators/Crew:
This event is offered by facilitators of 'North Coast Authentics'. We hold a collaborative space for all of us; facilitated and transformative, but also social and relaxed. Our approach is grounded and supportive, and very 'human'. We believe A.R. works best as a curious exploration; not some kind of perfectionist system to be mastered. Empathy and being present are far more important than skill or confidence.

People explore A.R. (& Meisner) for various reasons:

Just because it feels amazing to really engage with others more deeply and richly in a collaborative and supportive ways.
To upgrade natural fluency in such things as presence, intuition, boundaries, and relating skills and confidence. (Yes all these can be learned, just like any skills.)
For deeper insights into the essence of who we truly are. Many folk tell us that A.R. has assisted them to move beyond old patterns, conditioned habits & limitations.

Developed in the 1990s in the US, and soon reaching Europe, there are now numerous A.R. community movements across the world. What Authentic Relating (and this event) ISN'T:

This isn't therapy: It's not about trying to 'fix' or classify anyone. A.R. can be very helpful in processing challenges or trauma-residue, but that happens organically. A.R. isn't suitable for people who aren't comfortable to see deeper edges of themselves or others.

Although the exercises have a structure, that is simply to focus our skill-muscles. Like going to the gym for relating. You don't go out into the world with the gym machines afterwards, you just go out and live your life. Same here. We don't present any kind of system on 'how to be'.

This is a non-Hierarchical Space: The facilitators have explored these realms in depth, so have a lot of practical life experience in A.R., and are fluent in facilitating and holding space. Yet there are also many areas in which we too still face our challenging edges. We honor every individual's unique human journey, and hold space in circle (not 'front of house').
