The All-Abilities Games - Sunshine Coast 2026
Description
Welcome to The All-Abilities Games – Sunshine Coast 2026
Every Body • Every Ability • Every Opportunity
Join us for the inaugural All-Abilities Games, a free inclusive sporting and community event being held at the Sunshine Coast Recreation Precinct, Currimundi on Saturday, 31 October 2026 from 9:30am–2:00pm.
Developed by The Lavender Sky Foundation, the Games are about creating genuine opportunities for people with disability, diagnoses and chronic health conditions to Come & Try, participate, compete, connect and belong.
Whether you are trying a sport for the very first time, looking for a social sporting opportunity, already playing within a team, or interested in developing towards competitive sport, there is a place for you.
Everyone belongs.
What’s happening on the day?
Participants will be able to experience a growing program of inclusive and all-abilities sport, including:
Connect Rugby League
Spinners Wheelchair Sports
Powerchair Soccer
Handball
Boccia
Volleyball
Soccer
Skateboarding
Swimming with Susie Maroney OAM
60 Plus Playground
Sporting demonstrations, exhibitions and Come & Try opportunities throughout the day
Activities will be offered across the fields, indoor court, pool and other areas of the Sunshine Coast Recreation Precinct.
Some activities will operate as open Come & Try sessions, while others will have scheduled sessions, demonstrations or exhibitions. The final event program and activity times will be released closer to the Games.
More than a day of sport
The All-Abilities Games are also about connection and creating opportunities beyond the event itself.
Sporting clubs and organisations will be available to help participants and families discover ongoing recreational, club and competitive opportunities.
The day will also include community and disability organisations, information stalls, workshops and information sessions, with organisations including Down Syndrome Queensland and Intellectual Disability Queensland joining us.
Sensory space and carer support opportunities are also being explored and will be confirmed as the program develops.
Special guests
We are delighted to have Chris Bond OAM PLY as our Games Ambassador and Susie Maroney OAM supporting our swimming program and Moses Mbye supporting our NRL & Connect Rugby League Program with two workshops.
The Games will be officially opened by Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie MP, Patron of The All-Abilities Games at 9.30am.
Who can participate?
The Games are being created for people with physical, intellectual, neurological and sensory disabilities, mental health and chronic health conditions, and other disabilities and diagnoses.
Participants can choose the activities and level of involvement that are right for them.
Families, carers and supporters are very welcome to attend, support participants and be part of the day. Opportunities to participate alongside players may also be available in selected Come & Try activities where appropriate.
Registration
The event is free, but registration is required.
We ask everyone attending to register so that we can plan appropriately and maintain an accurate record of attendance on the day.
Participants will check in when they arrive and receive their event wristband before heading out to explore the Games.
Individual sporting activities may have their own participation requirements, age guidelines, session capacities or safety requirements.
Participation and safety
Sport and physical activity involve inherent risks. Participants should choose activities appropriate to their individual abilities and circumstances and follow the directions of sporting providers and event staff.
The Lavender Sky Foundation holds Public Liability Insurance for the event. This does not provide Personal Accident or Personal Injury insurance for individual participants. Participants who require this type of cover are responsible for arranging their own appropriate insurance.
Come and be part of something new
The All-Abilities Games are being developed to create opportunities that extend beyond one day — connecting people with clubs, organisations and sporting pathways and building greater opportunities for inclusive and competitive sport across our communities.
Try something new. Join a team. Discover a pathway. Meet your community.
Come & Try • Participate • Compete • Connect
