The ancient rock art of Murujuga - can it survive?

Hear from Traditional Custodian Raelene Cooper, archaeologist Dr Ken Mulvaney, scientist Dr John Black and environmental researcher Piers Verstegen about the unique world significance of Murujuga's 50,000 year old petroglyphs/rock art - and the ongoing damage from toxic industrial emissions which threaten its very existence.

Murujuga, part of the Dampier Archipelago in WA's Pilbara region, was granted World Heritage listing in 2025, but this was a hollow victory as long as government supports the expansion of the gas industry right in the midst of this outstanding cultural heritage site.
