Since 2015, Artists from across Australia and overseas have united to create works of art on aprons. The Apron Project raises much needed funds for Women's Community Shelters by auctioning the aprons online. Over 100 artists have presented more than 300 aprons, raised funds and awareness of the growing epidemic of Domestic and Family Violence.  The Aprons have been launched in Cootamundra NSW, photographed and placed online for Auction on August 11 with the auction closing August 31st, 2022. https://app.galabid.com/apronp...

The Apron Project Showcase
aims to educate and raise awareness of Domestic Violence in towns across NSW while raising much needed funds for Women's services at each town stop with an apron showcase, community art projects and the sharing of stories. The Hornsby Showcase runs from August 23 to August 28 inclusive.

You are invited to join Annabelle Daniel OAM on August 25 at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre. Annabelle will share the Women's Community Shelter story, recent achievements and the work that is still ahead of us all.

Annabelle Daniel OAM is the CEO of Women's Community Shelters and the Chair of the Board for Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW), the peak body for specialist domestic and family violence services in the state. As CEO of Women’s Community Shelters, Annabelle has worked with local communities around NSW to establish and open nine shelters in as many years at Northern Beaches, Hornsby, Forster, Castle Hill, Penrith, Bayside, Parramatta, Revesby, Camden. She collaborates with a range of organisations, individuals and stakeholders, from the community and all levels of government to achieve change in the field of homelessness for women and children.  Most recently she gave evidence to the Upper House inquiry into Homelessness Amongst Older People Aged Over 55 in NSW. WCS together with other community housing and welfare providers are calling for urgent action to address the growing homelessness crisis facing older people.

The Apron Project was conceived by Sallianne McClelland, who has 30 years in Event Creation and Direction. Sallianne is a Hornsby Shire Councillor, Board Advisor to Boomerang Meeting Place Inc (Mogo), Advocate Women’s Community Shelters (WCS), Past President HKWS, former Director Development Women's Community Shelters, and former Resilience NSW Mogo Recovery Officer. Sallianne has been recognised as NSW Local Woman of Year, Hornsby.
