THE ART OF BECOMING - Finding Your North Star
Join Skye Paez (she/her) for an interactive workshop exploring identity, self-expression and the person you are becoming.
Finding Your North Star is about looking beyond expectations, rules and ideas of who we think we should be, and beginning to discover what genuinely feels like you. Through conversation, guided reflection and creative exercises, participants will explore their identity, personal style and the ways we can use visual expression to communicate who we are to the world.
What to expect
We’ll begin by exploring the idea of a personal “North Star” - the qualities, feelings and values that can guide the way you want to present and express yourself.
Participants will be invited to reflect on the words, images, colours, people and inspirations they naturally gravitate towards, and consider what these might reveal about their own identity and aspirations.
We’ll explore how clothing, colour, beauty, grooming, silhouette and other forms of visual expression can become tools for communicating identity and building confidence, while recognising that there is no single right way to look, dress or express gender.
Through journalling and creative visual exercises, participants will begin developing their own personal North Star: something they can continue returning to as their identity and self-expression evolve.
Participants are encouraged to come wearing an outfit in which they feel most like themselves (whatever that means to them) and to bring along any makeup they already own and would like help using.
Time permitting, we’ll finish with an interactive session where participants can ask questions, experiment with their look and receive individual guidance from Skye on ways they might refine or develop their personal expression and move a little closer to their own North Star.
No previous knowledge of fashion, beauty or personal styling is needed. The workshop is designed to be exploratory, supportive and fun.
