About Alan ...

"I started with my first two bonsai starters back in 1988 which I purchased from a local nursery in Liverpool. Both of which I still have today, making them both 36 years old. They are a Chinese Wisteria and a Port Jackson fig.
I kept up my passion for bonsai, mostly gathering information from books. (No internet back then). In 2005 I started my first Bonsai lessons at the “School of Bonsai” in North Rocks. A 3 year once a week program for beginners to Intermediate, which is where I learned a lot about trees and their development. It also meant my collection went from around 12 or so to 85 all in various stages of development.
Since moving to Merriwa, I have downsized my collection to around 70 or so. 3 of which won prizes at the Merriwa Show in 2023. My Chinese Elm 1st Prize, Juniper 2nd Prize and my Shiro Kapitan Wisteria Highly Commended!"

Please note: the number of attendees is limited to 20.
