The Art of Not Knowing - Adelaide
Event description
An interactive gallery experience based on key concepts from Diana Renner's book 'Not Knowing: the art of turning uncertainty into opportunity.'
In our liquid modern world, where patterns clash and certainties dissolve, we often feel pressure to have all the answers. This experience offers a different way: learning to thrive in uncertainty, to see with fresh eyes, and to discover the generative power of not knowing.
Join The Wayfarers for a unique gallery expedition to experience art—and life—through the lens of "negative capability": the profound ability to embrace the unknown without reaching for immediate answers.
Perfect for anyone navigating life's uncertainties. No art knowledge required—just curiosity and willingness to explore the space between knowing and not knowing.
- Close Your Eyes to See: Experience art through guided description, awakening new senses and fresh perspectives
- Empty Your Cup: Embrace beginner's mind and let go of preconceptions that limit possibility
- Live the Questions: Engage in dialogue with artworks about your personal uncertainties and dilemmas
- The Path is Made by Walking: Reflect on your journey of discovery beneath the gallery's soaring architecture
The Wayfarers is the exciting new venture of Diana Renner and David Seignior, who have joined forces in the spirit of playful curiosity, collaboration, and Quixotic questing into the unknown.
Drawing on their diverse interdisciplinary interests (including visual and performing art, environment and sustainability, law, philosophy, STEAM education, leadership and management), and their facilitation and storytelling skills, Diana and David create novel experiences (voyages of discovery) that facilitate deep reflection and connection, challenge traditional perceptions, and explore different ways of (not)knowing, doing and being.
Join us with your sensible shoes, beginner’s mind and spirit of adventure.
"The point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke
