THE ART OF PRESENCE: Physical Theatre Workshop
Event description
THE ART OF PRESENCE:Â Physical Theatre Workshop
15 March 2025 - 9am-1pm
Join us for an immersive journey that combines physicality, creativity, and storytelling to explore the powerful connection between body, mind, and social space. Gain fresh perspectives and experience our innovative approach to transforming complex social issues into beautiful, embodied poetic stories on stage.
This unique creative experience will help you develop body awareness, self-expression, voice, confidence, and acting skills, while strengthening social connections. You’ll be welcomed into the D.I.V.E. Collective’s training space, taking part in the same warm-ups, exercises, and creative routines we use to prepare for our performances.
Through physical exercises and group dynamics, you'll refine your precision, balance, coordination, and discipline. No prior experience is necessary—just an open mind and a willingness to explore.
In a relaxed, supportive environment, you’ll unlock your body’s full potential through movement, gesture, proximity, repetition, and presence. You’ll learn to use your physicality as a powerful storytelling tool, both on stage and in everyday life. This workshop will challenge you to build confidence, push your boundaries, and develop essential soft skills such as leadership, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability.
The Art of Presence: Physical Theatre Workshop introduces you to key techniques used by D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective, including Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Viewpoints, Contact Improvisation, Immersive Theatre, and Composition.
We invite anyone—whether a theatre enthusiast or professional artist—curious about the connection between body, mind, and social space to join us. Be part of an inspiring community of like-minded creatives, making meaningful connections and discovering new ways of expression.
The workshop is led by D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective’s Artistic Director and co-founder, Cesar Genaro. Born and trained in Brazil, Cesar has shared his expertise in physical theatre throughout his career as an actor and director in Brazil and Australia.
This workshop is open to participants aged 18 and older.
