The Art of Subtlety
Event description
The Latin origin of the word subtle and subtlety means ‘finely woven’ and was used to describe fabric. In the realm of communication, subtlety is the quality of being understated, delicate or nuanced. The art of subtlety takes a certain amount of strategy and intention ― a confidence and a knowing that accompanies wisdom ― the knowledge gained from experience. Subtlety requires observation, gentleness, insight and intentionality.
STRENGTHEN YOUR SUPER POWER TO SOFTEN & SENSITISE.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
WHEN: Saturday 15th of June, 12-3pm
WHERE: Upstairs at Moss Studios - 101 Evans St, Brunswick, Melbourne.
INVESTMENT: $60 pp.
Our focuses in the Art of Subtlety will be on practices that support is in embodying subtlety.
Our main focuses involve:
Pranayama:
Pranayama is the Vedic practice of breath control, commonly used by yoga practitioners. It is a mindfulness practice that draws one’s attention to the rhythmic cycles of inhalation and exhalation. When we notice the subtleties of the way that we breathe life, it allows us to gain more understanding on the range of feeling & sensation within the rest of our body.
This gives us the power to slow down, regulate, listen deeply & act from a place of integrated understanding.
Bodywork:
In partner work, we will explore how to implement a less is more approach in bodywork & massage experiences with another. Subtle healing touch can be very powerful for supporting both participants to soften, feel safe & release.
Movement Meditation & Yoga.
By opening & softening our bodies, we peel back the viels that blind us from the subtle layers of sensation and feeling that are accessible for us, underneath the tension. By connecting to movement as a meditation - it can offer us far more access to our pleasure, aliveness, relaxation and vitality.
Connection
Ever felt like someone didn’t need to say a word, because their energy and tone of being said it all? In relationships, subtlety can be used positively, or it can also unconsciously play out in toxicity. We will explore a few practices that allow us to become aware of the subtle cues (body language, tone, posture) that we play out in connection with another. Learn how to use subtly to create safety, play, and intentionality within the way that you relate.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
- Tools for how to access more pleasure, aliveness, sensation, your intuition and vitality.
- Go home with a calm and grounded nervous system.
- A deeper understanding of yourself and how your use of subtleties play out within your body, and with another.
- Connection to like-minded humans, who care about growth, compassion & heart-led living.
WHY DO THIS?
Within the world that we are currently apart of, there are many factors that contribute to numbness within society. From technology, to substances, to concrete, to plastic - all of these artificial building blocks of our society, can rob us from our natural state of being and feeling. When we become numb, stressed and fatigued - we are less in tune with subtleties, which can block our connection to source, ourselves, and each other.
This workshop is to support re-opening, softening and attuning yourself back to your natural state of being.
You will gain tools to take back into your life, to help with re-patterning the layers of conditioning, from systems of de-sensitisation.
We hope to see you there for a heart opening & restorative 3 hours together.
With love,
Lauren - The Art of Connection.
