The Art of Tango - Live Concert with tango music & dancing
Event description
A sublime concert of tango music and dancing with Turkish soprano, Ayşe Göknur Shanal, pianist John Martin & tango master of dance, Pedro Florentino Alvarez.
Three exquisite performers bring their separate talents together for a night of passionate Tango music and dance with songs of love, loss, longing and regret.
Internationally awarded singer Ayşe Göknur Shanal performs widely around the world, bringing a vocal range and delivery perfect for these passionate, emotional, and deeply personal songs.
Pianist John Martin is a sought-after concert pianist who plays with our countries best; Tango Master Pedro Florentino Alvarez, with his dance partner Teresa Chau, is simply superb!
The work of Argentine Tango composer and musician Astor Piazzolla revolutionized tango and this concert brings to life many of his songs and also of his contemporaries. The program contained many songs of Astor Piazzolla with outstanding songs such as ‘Oblivion’ & ‘Adios Nonino’, and from his contemporaries the popular tunes ‘Por un Cabeza’ used in the film ‘Scent of a Woman’, and ‘Quizás, quizás, quizás’ so memorable from the film ‘Strictly Ballroom.’ The driving, changing rhythms sweep you up into the sensuous world of Tango, where you will linger long after the concert has ended.
