The Art of the Trim

Join Tricia Bygott at this 4-hour needle and thread workshop at Bukeshla’s new warehouse studio space on Pakenham Street.

The Art of the Trim will embrace a few simple stitches, using a minimal yet potent touch and the needle and thread as our ‘pen’, from the subtle to the striking, with simplicity as our guide.

This inspiring workshop will offer tools to take away for future projects, be it garment design, interior furnishing applications, cloth, clay,  jewellery or another creative application.

Please bring a fine-line pen, ink or pencil, and something to draw on, along with any pieces or samples of product you are currently working with.

Tricia will provide ample cloth and thread, and the art of the sampler will be your record and teacher to take away.

A light supper will be served, offering you a kitchen-free evening.

About Tricia Bygott

Tricia Bygott is a textile artist and designer who has been practising her craft for 40 years. Her Fremantle-based label Bukeshla is built around the artisanal and the beautiful, working from the belief that how a garment feels on the body shapes how a person moves through the world.

Tricia hosts workshops in the spirit of sharing her knowledge, in recognition of the power of people coming together with needle, thread and cloth.

Tricia’s stitching practice is deeply steeped in the acknowledgment that the making process plays a vital part in the healing of the soul. Through her own lived experience, and the role it has played in her own healing, it continues to be a welcome balm. She notes how commonly this is a lived experience for so many and is passionate about this potent aspect of the creative process and sharing her insights.

Tricia is an inspirational teacher who will look after each participant individually, as well as recognise the group collective and how participants will learn from each other. She looks forward to each and every opportunity to be with makers wherever they are in skill, whatever their use of medium, and the fountain of possibility that is available for us to tap into.
