The Artist-sit-in
Event description
The Living Room Theatre invites 70 performing artists to take part in The Artists Sit In — an improvised, silent protest about not being given the opportunity to work.
We are gathering artists from across disciplines to sit — together, quietly — in a charged space of absence and endurance.
There will be 70 green chairs, two microphones (one grounded, one suspended), and an unhinged door. A row of visual artists will document the scene as it unfolds.
This is an invitation to stand (or rather, to sit) in solidarity. To embody silence as a form of protest, and presence as a form of resistance.
A short rehearsal is required to determine the parameters of the improvisation — Bring your body, your willingness, and your silence.
If you’d like to take part in this collective act, please contact RSVP with your name, discipline,.
Let’s sit together — and make the silence deafening.
