The ARTSLAB is proud to present this special screening event at Upper River Hall in Kangaroo Valley. The event will begin at noon and include screenings of the three episodes of the brilliant documentary The Australian Wars, introduced by director Rachel Perkins. The event also aims to raise awareness around the upcoming referendum, and raise money for local Nowra First Nations women’s organisation Waminda.
The afternoon will include a welcome to country ceremony; lunch and afternoon tea; First Nations led discussions around Voice, Treaty and truth telling; and a Q&A with filmmaker Rachel Perkins and other special guests.
Bring an open mind and questions – there is much to discuss - and be prepared to be moved and changed by this powerful groundbreaking 3-part film that sees Arrente and Kalkadoon woman Rachel Perkins journey across the country to explore the bloody battles fought on Australian soil, and seeking to change the narrative of the nation.
This event has been proudly supported by Shark Island Kangaroo Valley so that 100% of ticket sales can be donated to Waminda and the incredible work they do to support women, and in doing so create stronger communities and connections to culture.
